The Bulletin for
11 May, 2025
Hey you,
Been a while. Certainly hope you're well. The beginning of this month has been an incredibly busy one, so I figured we'd sit down and recap some of the bigger things that have happened. Ready? Let's go.
Mayfest 2025
Just a heads up: I will be at Mayfest with my mom (Theodessa Designs), one of my best friends (The Goodhue Bakery Co.), and more on 24th May from 10am-5pm. You'll find us in Bennington, VT right on Main Street and School Street. Admission is free, so if you're in the area, please come on down. We hope to see you right here in our beautiful town for a great day!
From my Corner
On the Corner this week, we've got a couple interesting things.
- My initial thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy S22+. Not sure how I feel, lots of weird quirks to get used to. I do have an iPhone 14 Pro now, (though I'm waiting on a replacement for that) which will serve as my main device for the summer due to iOS 19 and related OS testing obligations.
- I returned to social media for the first time since 2024 with my May Day campaign. Appreciate the support on this one! Long time coming. More on the way very soon.
Across the Net
Across the internet this week, there's not a whole lot going on. But here are a few goodies.
- Apple introduces their 2025 Pride collection, "Pride Harmony," which has a wallpaper that will be included with iOS 18.5. That should be out to everyone within a few days.
-
As a reminder, WWDC 2025's main keynote is focused on software and is marketed more at consumers than developers. It's on 9th June at 10am PT/1pm ET on Apple.com and their YouTube page, so definitely tune in if you're able. I'll try to have a recap afterwards, but I'm really busy during Dub Dub week this time around, so I can't promise I'll be able to immediately! (So, so sorry in advance...)
- That said, my usual WWDC wishlist post that I do every year will be going up very soon on my blog. Keep an eye out for that.
- Also in Apple news: have an AirTag? You can actually share that AirTag's location with an airline to help them find your luggage. This seems to be rolling out rather slowly, though. I'm flying in a few months, so it's something I've definitely been looking at!
- From the BBC, some cool tech that's likely going to be used to search for life on Mars is being tested out in the Scotland Highlands. The European Space Agency is hoping to launch their second mission in 2028. The rover itself is pretty cool--I'll definitely be keeping an eye on that!
Music Recommendations
Now it's time for music recommendations! Postmodern Jukebox and music that sounds like it came out forever ago are things I'm into right now. That, coupled with my itch to play Fallout: New Vegas again makes me wonder if I'm just an old man at heart that's trapped in a 22 year old's body. Anywho... here's the list:
- Anaconda (Nicki Minaj cover) by Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and Robyn Adele Anderson
- Love Yourself (Justin Bieber cover) by Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and Sara Niemietz
- It Ain't Me (Selena Gomez and Kygo cover) by Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and Emily Braden
- Big Iron by Marty Robbins
- When You Were Mine by Joy Crookes
- No No Keshagesh by Buffy Sainte-Marie
Thanks to Odesli for making these links platform agnostic! For library stats, you can find me on last.fm.
Alright, that's everything for now. I'm going to hop off email for a while and do some adventuring... it's going to be a busy few weeks. But I'll make sure to send pictures!
Cheers,
-slade
